I would like to make everyone aware of the movement to get RVers to monitor FRS/GMRS Channel 19 when traveling. You don’t need an expensive radio to use Channel 19. In fact, your FRS radio (walkie talkie) from Walmart or Amazon that most of us have for communicating while backing up our rigs can be used to monitor Channel 19 and even transmit for short distances. If you would like to get a little more advanced and powerful, you can purchase a handheld GMRS radio for about $30 on Amazon. It will require a $35, no test license from the FCC that will cover your entire family for 10 years, but will give you a much more powerful radio. Either way, I encourage everyone to start using a FRS or GMRS radio to monitor Channel 19 while we are on the road even if it is just to say hi while we are traveling. We plan to add the decal below to the back of our Grand Design Solitude that says we monitor Channel 19. Hope to talk to many of you on the road!
